Parents Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can my child start robotics and coding classes?

Kids can start as early as age 5 with our Junior LEGO Robotics and Scratch coding programs. Our curriculum is age-banded through age 14, with clear progressions into LEGO SPIKE Prime, EV3, mBot2, Python and WRO/FLL competition robotics.

Do you offer robotics classes in Stittsville, Kanata and Ottawa?

Yes. STEMXplore runs weekly robotics and coding classes for kids in Stittsville and serves the wider Ottawa area including Kanata and West Ottawa. We also run PD Day workshops, summer camps and birthday-party sessions.

What is the difference between LEGO SPIKE Prime and EV3?

LEGO SPIKE Prime is the newer platform with a simpler, more intuitive block-based coding environment — ideal for ages 8–12. EV3 has a more mature Python/block ecosystem and is popular for WRO and FLL competition builds, typically suiting ages 10–14.

Do beginners need prior coding experience?

Not at all. Every program starts with the fundamentals — even our advanced Python and competition tracks begin with a placement session so kids join the right level.

Do you prepare students for WRO and FLL robotics competitions?

Yes. STEMXplore offers dedicated WRO (World Robot Olympiad) and FLL (FIRST LEGO League) competition training tracks in Ottawa, including build, code, strategy and judging preparation.

Do you offer a free demo class?

Yes. Every new family can book a free demo class from our homepage. Book directly at the Contact section — a spot is confirmed within one business day.

Do you run robotics summer camps in Ottawa?

Yes. STEMXplore runs multi-day robotics and coding camps throughout the summer and on school PD Days in Stittsville. See the "Upcoming Events, Camps & PD Days" section on our homepage for current dates.
