STEMXplore is a Stittsville-based robotics and coding club for children ages 5 to 14. Every week, kids from Stittsville, Fernbank, Amberwood, Hazeldean and Bridlewood meet in small groups to build, wire and program real robots — not simulators, not screen-only games. Our classes are led by an instructor with more than a decade of robotics engineering and competition-coaching experience, and every child works with a genuine LEGO, mBot2 or Quarky kit.

Because we are physically located in Stittsville, families do not have to drive downtown or into Kanata Centrum to give their child a serious robotics education. Robotics is not a lecture. Kids come in, snap into their kit, and by the end of the first hour they have a working machine they can show their parents. Junior LEGO Robotics (Ages 5–7)

Our youngest builders start with LEGO WeDo-style kits: colour sensors, tilt sensors and small motors. They tell a story with a robot — a lion that roars when you get too close, a spinning helicopter, a smart house that turns lights off. Coding is 100% block-based, so reading is not a prerequisite.

LEGO SPIKE Prime Robotics (Ages 8–12)

SPIKE Prime is the current standard for FIRST LEGO League. Kids at this level build multi-motor drivetrains, gyro-navigation systems and complete missions on a real FLL practice mat. This is where most Stittsville students first taste competition robotics.

LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 & Python (Ages 10–14)

Older students transition from block coding to text-based Python on the EV3 platform, learning conditional logic, loops, functions and PID control. This track feeds directly into our WRO competition team.

mBot2 & Quarky Robotics

mBot2 and Quarky are our screen-free, single-board robotics kits. Students learn AI concepts — face detection, colour tracking, voice commands — that would normally require a laptop and a large kit. Popular with families who want tech that fits on a kitchen table.
